Ingredients

Beef bites
  • 2 lb beef stew meat or sirloin Cut into 1.5-inch pieces.
  • 6 tbsp butter Divided: 4 tbsp on top during cooking, 2 tbsp at the end.
  • 6 garlic Minced (6 cloves).
  • 0.5 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 0.5 tsp smoked paprika
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 0.25 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 0.25 fresh parsley For garnish; chopped.

Equipment

  • 1 slow cooker

Method

Slow-cook the beef
  1. Add the beef pieces to the slow cooker.
  2. Add beef broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  3. Place 4 tablespoons of butter on top of the beef.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 4–5 hours, or on high for 2–3 hours, until the beef is tender and pulls apart easily.
Finish with garlic butter sauce
  1. Stir in the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and continue stirring until fully melted and the sauce looks glossy.
  2. Serve hot over mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or rice, then garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

Pro tip: if your sauce looks thin after cooking, stir well and let the slow cooker sit covered for 5–10 minutes on low to slightly thicken. Store leftovers in the refrigerator up to 3–4 days in a sealed container; reheat gently. Freezing is yes—freeze up to 2–3 months and thaw overnight in the fridge. For a lighter option, use low-sodium soy sauce and reduce added salt to taste.
