Ingredients

blanco tequila
  • 2 oz blanco tequila
orange liqueur
  • 1 oz orange liqueur
cranberry juice
  • 1.5 oz cranberry juice
apple cider
  • 1 oz apple cider
fresh lime juice
  • 0.75 oz fresh lime juice
maple syrup
  • 0.5 oz maple syrup
ice
  • 1 ice
cinnamon sugar for the rim
  • 1 cinnamon sugar for the rim
fresh cranberries and a rosemary sprig for garnish
  • 1 fresh cranberries and a rosemary sprig for garnish

Method

Rim and fill
  1. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of a glass, then dip the rim in cinnamon sugar to coat. Set the glass aside so the coating clings.
  2. Fill the prepared glass with ice. This chills the drink before straining.
Shake and strain
  1. Shake tequila, orange liqueur, cranberry juice, apple cider, fresh lime juice, and maple syrup with ice for 15 seconds. Keep shaking until the mixture looks evenly cold and slightly frothy.
  2. Strain the margarita into the prepared glass with ice. Watch the ruby color settle without over-splashing.
Garnish and serve
  1. Garnish with fresh cranberries and a rosemary sprig, then serve immediately. The rosemary sprig should sit upright for a clear holiday aroma.

Notes

For the cleanest cinnamon rim, press the rim into the cinnamon sugar firmly right after rubbing it with lime, then tap off any excess. Store any leftover margarita mixture (before garnishing) in the fridge for up to 24 hours, then shake again with fresh ice; freezing is not recommended. If you want a lighter drink, swap the maple syrup for a zero-sugar maple syrup alternative.
