Build the butter board
- Spread the softened salted butter across a wooden board using the back of a spoon, creating swooshes and swirls with visible texture.
- Drizzle the honey over the butter in thin lines so it pools slightly in the swirls.
- Scatter the chopped dried cranberries, chopped pistachios, orange zest, and finely chopped rosemary evenly over the top.
- Finish with flaky sea salt and red pepper flakes, sprinkling lightly for speckled coverage.
- Serve immediately with torn or sliced baguette or crusty sourdough for swiping.
Notes
Pro tip: soften the butter until it’s spreadable but still holds shape—if it feels greasy, let it sit briefly at room temperature, then build the board. For best texture, assemble right before serving; leftovers keep refrigerated up to 2 days, then re-soften slightly before spreading. Freezing isn’t recommended because the toppings and butter texture can change. For a dairy-light swap, use a plant-based salted butter substitute with similar spreadability.
